The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation.

Payment for your pet license is due by December 31st of the prior year. If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 10 days of obtaining a dog or cat over the age of 6 months or within 10 days of moving into the City of Lenexa.
You may license by mail and pay for your license with a check or money order made payable to "Lenexa Animal licensing."
You may license online and pay for your license with a major credit card. A convenience fee will apply per transaction. Multiple pets can be licensed in one transaction.
- A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and pet information.
Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so retain a copy of your documents for your records.

- Enclose copies of all required paperwork. The license application below may be downloaded and included, but it is not required.
- Determine the correct license fee for each of your pets.
- Make your check or money order payable to "Lenexa Animal Licensing." Please do not send cash.

Issuance of a license does not constitute approval for any household to maintain three (3) or more dogs and/or cats without approval of a special pet permit. Contact Lenexa City Hall at 913-477-7500.
The City of Lenexa requests that animal licenses be purchased through the mail or online.
