Licensing Ordinance
All dogs and cats 6 months of age and older must have a current rabies vaccination and be licensed annually with the City. New residents must license within 30 days of moving into Clive.

Mailing Address
To license by mail:
- Enclose copies of all required paperwork. The license application below may be downloaded and included, but it is not required.
- Determine the correct license fee for each of your pets.
- Make your check or money order payable to “City of Clive”. Please do not send cash.

Required Paperwork
- A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and pet information.
- A one-time proof of spay/neuter, such as a signed statement from a veterinarian or an invoice for services, is required if you are applying for the lower spayed/neutered license fee.
Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so please retain a copy of your documents for your records.

The cost for licensing unaltered pets is higher than for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation.

Due Date
Licenses expire annually on December 31, and must be renewed by April 30 each year.
A $10.00 late fee will be applied beginning May 1.
