Licensing Ordinance
All dogs, cats and ferrets 4 months of age and older must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed with Jacksonville within 30 days of being in the city.

Licensing Locations
You may license your pet in person at local veterinary clinic in Jacksonville or at Jacksonville Animal Care and Protective Services at 2020 Forest Street in Jacksonville. Please bring your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate with you.
Required Paperwork
- A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate for correct address and pet information.
- Proof of age is required to receive the discounted fees for senior citizens age 62 and over.
- A letter from the VA or Social Security Administration is required to receive the discounted fees for disabled owners.
Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so please retain a copy of your documents for your records.

Due Date
Payment for your license is due within 5 days of the expiration of your current license. If you are licensing for the first time, you must purchase a license within 30 days of obtaining a pet over the age of 4 months or within 30 days of moving into Jacksonville.
A late fee is added to the license fee if your license is not purchased by the due date. The late fee is $25.
