Pet License Amnesty Month

Late fees waived all November! Throughout November 2026, San Mateo County Animal Control & Licensing is offering a Pet License Amnesty Program for county residents. If your pet's license is overdue, or you've never licensed your pet, all late fees and penalty fees will be waived during the month of November.

California law requires all dogs and cats over 3 months of age living in any city or unincorporated area of San Mateo County to be licensed. A current rabies vaccination is required before a license can be issued. Rabies vaccinations are available through your veterinarian or at low-cost vaccination clinics.
