Licenses may be purchased for 1, 2 or 3 years as long as the rabies vaccination is valid for the same period.
To qualify for a reduced-fee Senior Citizen license, the person must meet the following criteria:
- Be a resident of the City and, except for legal dependents, be the sole user of the utilities; and
- Be 62 years of age or older, or be disabled as established by The Social Security Administration Supplemental Income Program; and
- Have an annual total household income of $24,000 or less per year.
For more information or an Application for Senior Citizen Discount, call the City of Antioch Animal Services Department at (925) 779-6989.
The cost for licensing unaltered or fertile pets is higher than for licensing spayed or neutered pets in order to promote sterilization and to reduce pet overpopulation and starvation.
Payment for your license is due on the last day of the month in which your current license expires. New licenses are due within 30 days of ownership or possession of the dog or new residence in the City of Antioch.
By ordinance, a late fee of $40 is added to each license that is not purchased by the due date.
You may license by mail and pay for your license with a check or money order made payable to “Antioch Dog Licensing."
You may license online and pay for your license with a major credit card. A convenience fee will apply per transaction. Multiple pets can be licensed in one transaction.
You may license in person at Antioch Animal Services. Cash and credit card payments (Visa/MC) are accepted. Please bring a copy of your pet's current rabies certificate and proof of spay/neuter.
A rabies vaccination certificate must be submitted if the rabies vaccination has expired or if your renewal notice requires you to do so. Check your certificate for correct address and pet information.
Please include a spay/neuter certificate if the pet has been altered since the last licensing period.
Your paperwork will not be returned to you, so please retain a copy of your vaccination certificate for your records.
Please mail all required documentation, along with your check or money order payable to "Antioch Dog Licensing" to:
